Dr Maria Pia Canales, D.M.D, M.CI.D., FRCD(c) Orthodontist
Dr. Maria Pia Canales completed her doctoral degree in dentistry at Université de Montréal with an excellence award. She then pursued a one year advanced training residency in general dentistry at Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
When she was working in a private practice in Montreal as a general dentist, she discovered a passion for esthetics and orthodontics. This pushed her to complete another three-year residency program in orthodontics at the University of Western Ontario.
During her residency training, she received numerous awards, such as the PJ Blake excellence award and the Charley Schultz young research investigator award. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in orthodontics, and a member of the Ordre des dentistes du Québec, the Quebec Association of Orthodontists, the American Association of Orthodontists and the Società Italiana di Orthodonthia. She also teaches clinical dentistry at McGill University.
